Construction of Bridge across Nirungnakan is completed on Udokan Mine road
Baikal Mining Company has finished the construction of a 60-meter bridge structure across Nirungnakan river.
As noted by Mr. German Mironov, General Director of Baikal Mining Company, who took part in the bridge opening: “The Company had first acquired a prior positive decision under the design documentation review, which confirms that the capital construction facility — bridge crossing — is in compliance with all requirements and regulations”.
On July 2, the traffic of heavy motor trucks across the bridge began to reach the Udokan main construction site.
The bridge is designed to endure loads of up to 60 tons. Its complex structure was installed on drilled pressure piles, each of 1,200 mm in diameter. The bridge will ensure an all-year access for all means of transportation across Nrungnakan river, notwithstanding the weather conditions during spring and fall floods and freeze-over.
The construction of the bridge took nearly a year. The major works, including the river bed cleaning and installation of span structures, were completed before spring. In late May, the last components and concrete structures were delivered to the construction site to finish installation.
